"The Shire" Archery Championship
Willoughby Vale
22 August 2010
It's that time of year again - A time to choose our Senior and Junior Archery Champions.
The Shire of Willoughby Vale is branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism Inc (SCA), a non-profit educational society dedicated to the study and recreation of the Middle Ages concentrating on Western Civilisation between 600AD and 1600AD.
We research and then try to re-create the better aspects of the lives of people from those periods. Among our many fun and colourful activities are feasts, dancing, music, armoured combat, sewing (clothing and accessories), arts and crafts, games, rapier duels, heraldic display, cooking and more. Pretty much anything done in Western Civilisation between 600AD and 1600AD can be and is researched, created, and enjoyed at SCA events.

Ok so your appetite is wetted for the AS competitions.
On to the boring bits ... the rules!!!!!!!!
Well we have a champion for heavy fighting, champion for fencing and a champion for archery ... so now we too can have a champion for the exciting field of arts and Sciences.
The competition will run in a four round cycle - starting in August and ending in May with the winner to be announced the following August.
There will be separate competition for newcomers and those of us with a little more experience.
